Racism, guns, reality

Chicago Police Supt. Garry McCarthy doesn’t seem to know his history. It’s not surprising; look at the company he’s keeping: Father Michael Pfleger. Why the Catholic Church hasn’t shut him down is beyond me.
McCarthy spoke these words, “So here’s what I want to tell you. See, let’s see if we can make a connection here. Slavery. Segregation. Black codes. Jim Crow. What, what did they all have in common? Anybody getting’ scared? Government sponsored racism.”
“Now I want you to connect one more dot on that chain of the African American history in this country, and tell me if I’m crazy. Federal gun laws that facilitate the flow of illegal firearms, into our urban centers across this country, that are killing our black and brown children,” he said.
I’ll tell you you’re crazy. There are over 20,000 gun laws on the books. Hoops to jump through. Infringement of the Second Amendment. Citizens treated as subjects. High prices to pay for firearm “registration” (see New York City’s laws at http://www.wnd.com/index.php?fa=PAGE.view&pageId=315173 ).
Look at the laws and codes McCarthy has cited. Democrat sponsored racism. Look at Reconstruction after the Civil War. Whites/Democrats were scared spit less and angered that free blacks might own a gun. Inexpensive handguns, that the free blacks could afford, were called Saturday night specials for a racial reason. If they were allowed the protection of arms, the racists said, it would be Saturday night in N-word town.
The misuse of guns is a serious problem. It kills all types, regardless of race, creed, or color. This isn’t a gun problem. This is a people problem. Too many people have no value for human life. They, unfortunately, can take a human life with no more thought than it takes to swat a fly.
The thought that “black and brown children” are dying due to gun violence is a horrible fact of life. Would the disappearance of all firearms cure this problem? Doubtful, to say the least. The cheapening of human life with abortion on demand, single parent households, no jobs for those that want them, taking God out of public schools and the public square, parents wanting to be friends, rather than parents, to their children, all contribute to an out of control society.
A society born and bred to have instant and disposable gratification. No wonder there’s so much A.D.D. being diagnosed nowadays. When we middle aged and older folks were younger, we didn’t have all the technology and conveniences that are available today. We had to wait four to six weeks to get our cereal box top coupon toys. If that sentence doesn’t make sense to you, well, ask your parents or grandparents.
Deciphering this in regards to the subject at hand: the race card is overused; Democrats like to use the race card to make themselves feel better, but it is my opinion that there are more Democrat racists than Republican racists; guns are not the problem; the value of human life, or lack thereof, is the problem, i.e., in the old days we settled arguments with trash talk or fist fights, never wanting to kill another human being, and today, drive by shootings are all too common and innocent life is too often collateral damage; too many politicians want to outlaw guns when the good folks who may live in high crime areas need a gun to defend hearth and home; laws outlawing guns will only disarm the good folks because criminals, by their very nature, disobey laws and leave the good citizens defenseless and possibly dead, waiting for the police to come and put the yellow tape around the crime scene.
I’m sure Chicago Police Supt. McCarthy has some guns in his house and probably a security system. He and his are safe and secure. Please, quit trampling on the Bill of Rights, let the good citizens enjoy the God given right of self-preservation and protection. Don’t allow the answer of criminal control be citizen control. Crime will only rise with that misguided solution.
